Organic Foods...

Think about it...Is organic food always healthy?

First lets take a look at the definition of "organic food".

"A broadly defined category of food which, in the purest form, is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides and sold to the consumer without adding preservatives and synthetic food enhancers; it is widely believed by advocates of alternative healthcare that organically grown foods are safer and more nutritious; however, there are no compelling data that demonstrate clear superiority of organic over non-organic foods. Organic products may be certified by voluntary organisations or government bodies, such as “Farm-Verified organics” and “California Certified Organic Farmer”." - [Organic food. (n.d.) Medical Dictionary for the Health Professions and Nursing. (2012). Retrieved September 16 2017 from]

Yes, organic foods are going to be better for you. However, it's not that simple. There is a huge misconception that eating organic is healthy, but you still need to look at what you are actually consuming. The first step to that is figuring out what your macros should be (check previous post) for your specific diet. Now, don't get me wrong when you're already eating a proper diet the next step would be to switch to organic foods that are already part of your balanced diet. They are technically a healthier version of foods due to how they are grown/processed.

You could go to the store and buy all organic labeled foods, and still come out with food that is still nutrient poor. So, you can't eat all the organic pasta you want and say " least its organic". You could eat all organic food and still be unhealthy and even gain weight. Organic foods are going to be better when you know which organic foods to buy.

So, my point is get healthy food and then get organic versions of said healthy food.
